Bio
Introduction:
Hoyt Calvert Ebanks began his seafaring career at the tender age of 17 and his first stint was at sea for 3.5 years on the " Old Chief" a ship with the National Bulk Carrier. He was one of three Caymanians recruited to join that ship in California. This was significant as most rookies made their first voyage out of New York. After his first trip he decided that life on the high seas was for him and for the next 33 years he sailed the world. He was often heard saying that he spent more time on the sea than he had on land and that he had saltwater for blood. In 1992, he retired as a Engineer for the Texaco Corporation on SS Texaco Montana. When he returned home in 1992, he was employed in the family business, B.O. Ebanks & Son. However on his days off, you could always find him and a few friends fishing but mostly reminiscing about their time at sea.
