Introduction:

It is with great pleasure that I nominate Henry Hector Whittaker for the Pioneer's Category because of his instrumental contribution as a seafarer in helping to develop our local economy through the remittances he sent home to support his family while he was at sea. Additionally, during his eleven-year tenure, he worked in the capacity of AB, a role he performed at an exemplary level. At an early age, Henry joined the National Bulk Carriers and later, a Canadian shipping company. Some of the vessels he sailed on were the Imperial St. Lawrence, Imperial Ottawa, Ore Monarch, and the Ore Jupiter.
