Henley Scott has a career as a seaman spanning 35+ years. He started his seafaring career in 1948 at the age of 15 and sailed on many vessels around the world, including the Kirk B, the Huswick, and the Kirkland. He joined National Bulk Carrier vessels as an ordinary seaman in the 1950s and worked himself up to Third Mate. In the years that followed, he continued to climb the ranks, eventually becoming a captain in the 1970s. He was also instrumental in the recruitment of other Caymanian seamen. Henley retired from seafaring in 1983, but still enjoys going out on the sea in his fishing boat each week. At 87, he is one of the oldest living members of the Veterans and Seamen's Society of Cayman Brac & Little Cayman.
