Introduction:

DD-BT See attached

The Rev. Harry Copeland Bodden was born on August 2nd, 1941, the oldest son of Henry Copeland Bodden and his wife Otilia Bodden, nee Bodden. His dream was to be a minister of the gospel. He attended the Bodden Town all-age school, but as with most young boys of his generation, further education was almost impossibleHis determination to succeed in following his dream led him to the path so many young men took- he signed up for an opportunity to go to sea with others being recruited for the Southwell journey.

He got his "CALL" and on his 18th birthday, he left Grand Cayman to join his first ship- the Ore Mercury starting in the lowest position- Mess-man. Over the next five years, he would join two other ships the  Ore Monarch and the Phoenix, moving up the ranks to Wiper, Fireman, and Oiler, and acting as Junior Engineer, never losing sight of his dream- holding bible study aboard ship, spending his spare time studying to improve his academic standing, and saving every penny he could to pursue further education.

Returning home in December 1963, He left for Jamaica in April 1964 where he completed his secondary education and gained entrance to Union Theological Seminary to begin his tertiary studies for the ministry. After graduating in 1969 he was ordained as a minister in the Presbyterian Church (now the United Church of Jamaica and Cayman) on January 20th •  1970 and given responsibility for five congregations in that country. His service in the church was extended to the country where he served on the Board of Education and headed up or participated in, numerous other civic organisations. His passion for  Youth would lead several young men to opt for the ministry as a life work -  some of whom would come to Cayman to work in the churches here.

In 1987 he travelled to England to pursue further studies in Social Services and Youth Work before being sent to Grand Cayman to build the congregations in East End and Gun Bay. His three-year stint there put those congregations in the position to support and call for their own Pastor and ended with the dedication of the church hall in East End.

Opting not to return to Jamaica he took up employment with Kirk Home Center in 1993 but continued to volunteer his service assisting the pastors in various local congregations and starting up a radio ministry- Worship the Lord. In 2006 he retired from Kirks' but continued his radio ministry

and assistance in other areas of the church's work in Grand Cayman, adding social media to his outreach, until ill-health forced his final retirement in 2019.
