Introduction:
UNCLE GRESSY TRAVELLED TO THE MOSQUITO KEYS WITH CAPT. OWEN AND OTHERS FROM AN EARLY AGE. MANY TRIPS WAS IN STORMY WEATHER AND HE WAS A VERY STRONG SWIMMER SO THE CAPTAINS DEPENDED ON HIM CHECK ON AND SECURE THE NETS. WHILE HOME HE RODE THE WEATHERBOARDS ON CAYMAN CATBOATS IN REGATTAS AND BOAT RACES. HE LOVED THE SEA AND IF YOU WERE LOOKING FOR HIM HE WOULD BE FOUND ON THE BOATSWAIN BAY IRONSHORE OR IN BARKERS BAY FISHING. HE WAS AN AVID FISHERMAN UNTIL HIS PASSING ON 4TH APRIL 2013. DD-WB In 1957 at the age 15 Gressman Ebanks quit school to join Capt Owen Farrington to go turtling at the Misskita Keys on the vessel named Jimsons. After many years of going to the Misskita Keys he continued his love for the sea by working on Tourist boats, riding weather boards, fishing and diving for lobsters and conches to make a living. He did this until his passing in 2013. IN 2016 A FISHING TOURNAMENT WAS NAMED IN HIS HONOR "GRESSY BARKERS BAY FISHING TOURNAMENT" AND CONTINUE EACH YEAR DURING EASTER.
