Mr Floyd Rivers followed in the steps of his forefathers sailing the oceans of the world. He was a petty officer in the US Navy, on one of the biggest aircraft carriers during the Cuban missile crises. With his ship 'layingtoo' some miles off the Northwest Point for a period of time, waiting to be called into action. He worked for the Mobile Oil Corporation for many years on their petroleum tankers. He also worked as Chief Mate with NOAA, the National Oceanic And Atmospheric Administration, on one of their service sips. He was married and had one daughter. He passed away in the early 1990's.
