Ezra joined National Bulk Carriers in 1957 at the age of 17 and began his seafaring life on the M/V Universe Leader. He often recalled that on one occasion he had the momentous experience of flying across the International Date Line on a trip to Brazil. He sailed with NBC for many years, working on various ships, including the Ore Venus, the Ore Meridian and the Dea Maris. Ezra rose to the top in his department as Chief Steward. He retired from NBC in the late 1970's when the construction industry was booming in the island. He remained in the islands until his passing.
