Bio

Introduction:
Edward Howell Snr sailed on the Hollisheadberg from the mid to later 70s til 1986, leaving behind his wife to care for his family of 2 at the time. Edward was better known to his shipping buddies as "Jackie", remained a dedicated husband and father during these years as he faithfully sent his entire "allotment" home to support his family. He was required to be at sea for 6 months and then come home for 30 days. I vividly recall the anticipation of him returning home when he would fondly tell us of the stories of his time at sea and the countries that he visited. Thinking back of them now I would consider them days of hardship but he always found a positive side and a life lesson to teach us kids. He wasn't able to be home for my high school graduation as in the case of his friend and fellow sea man, Merlin Ebanks, whose daughter graduated with me. They often would tell of that night at the time when they thought we were receiving our certificates, they both prayed on the deck of the Holisheadberg for our future and for God to direct our paths as young adults. I thank God for my father's faith which sustained and protected him and for his sacrifices to earn a living at sea which enabled my mother to raise my siblings and I. Respectfully submitted in his memory. Lizzette
