Mr. Scott now at the age of 85, was the only son of three children for Kyle Clive Scott and Rubie DC Scott of West End Caymn Brac. He started his seafarer heritage at the age of 11 years in order to support his family and educate his two sisters. Mr. Scott worked as an ordinary seaman working his way up the ladder as a Quater Master, Chief Pump man to an engineer. He worked on various ships and supertanker over his 24 year tenure with people from a wide range of nationalities and Caymanians. These vessels included steam ships to name a few from my heart felt conversation with my Dad, (Petro Sea, Super tanker Universe Leader, SS Camania and M/V Crystal,Astrolite which were hospital ships. Other M/V included M/V Dragon a bauxite ship, M/V Merco, M/V Bistra Trader to name a few of the many mentioned. My father spoke of the hardship and sacrifices of going to sea and the positives of gaining experience and education working throughout the world. My father provided the resource starting at only 5 pounds a month with long exhausting hours and treacherous weather conditions to help build and develop Cayman to the the pristine Country that we are today. When he left the high seas, he used his education to build the infrastructure in Cayman Brac, working with Rev King, Rev Turna, Scotts Development and Powering Light as an engineer with Mr. Royce Dilbert who he also sailed with. I strongly believe that my father deserves to be reconsidered and awarded on heroes day for all his dedication,sacrifices and contribution as a seaman to these beloved Cayman Islands.
