Evaswift Vessel Captain period 3 Jan 1874 to 7 Aug 1904,
Walter Kirkconnell’s shipbuilding career began when he found a long straight tree trunk that had washed up on the Brac south side. He used it to make the keel of his first ship, the Evaswift. A small two masted schooner. With this schooner and others, he moved cargo between Grand Cayman, Jamaica, and Cuba. Walter’s seven sons started the Kirkconnell seafaring legacy throughout the Caribbean and the Americas.
