I nominate C. Clarance Forbes for the Excelled at Sea because he started out to sea at the age of seventeen with National Bulk Carriers with an opportunity to see the world. He worked with the company for four and a half years. He took a brief pause to start his family and starting sailing again in 1968. He had the privilege of sailing with Captain Leroy Watson and Captain Verdel Rankin. During these times he kept advancing his craft achieving several licenses. He was a Qualified Member of the Engine Department. Clarance has traveled the world during peace and war times. He is well respected by his peers. Clarance retired from sailing in 2006. He currently resides in Queens, New York with his wife Joan E. Forbes. They have 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 1 great-grand child.
