I sailed with Mr. Carter on the S.S> Ore Meridian and S.S. Ore Mercury, on those ships he was an engineer. On the Mercury he assisted me when I was promoted to Pumpman. I remember him assisting me to build a stage on the after deck of the Mercury to hoist out the steering gear motor n freezing temperatures in Canada.
