Beverly was a career Civil Servant, joining the Cayman Islands Government in 1957. The majority of her 33-year career was with the Passport Office where she eventually became Chief Passport Officer. In this role she was responsible for preparing travel documents for Caymanian men, which allowed them to go off to sea to provide for their families. During that time, travel documentation was a very manual process. Many of times a passport, visa, waiver, or seamen certificate were required on short notice and usually a several of them at one time. So, she was often called at home to go out to prepare the documents late at night, weekends, and holidays. Bebo, as she was affectionately known, did this willingly and without complaint. She was very well respected and appreciated by those she helped. For the selfless commitment to her role as a civil servant and to her beloved isles Beverly was honored with the MBE in 1987.
