Bio

Introduction:
Mr. Uttley Hencliff Parchment began his Seafaring career Turtling in the Miskito Cays. In 1920 he received his Certificate of Service to Able Seaman from the United States Department of Commerce. Throughout his career he sailed on the vessels, Antarus, Albian, CIMBOCCO, Edna Klosking, Explicit, Excelsior, Goldfield, Lady Antoinette & Lydia Wilson. He was involved with many of the ships that traded between Cuba, USA & the Cayman Islands. Leveraging on his Seafaring experience he also became a master sailmaker, crafting & repairing sails for local & visiting vessels, many of which were made in his yard at Elgin avenue. This continued until he retired from the sea. He died at George Town Grand Cayman in 1983.
