Thomas Henry Banks sailed the seven oceans of the world as a merchant seaman. With service during WWII, having been torpedoed at sea, he courageously continued his seafaring career. He was a long time member of the National Maritime Union (NMU). The NMU oversaw the labor relationships with the many petroleum company's (Texaco, Exxon, Sinclair, Mobile) which operated huge petroleum tanker transport fleets. Mr. Banks served under the command of the US Army transportation service during WWII. He was married to Nancy Bodden, the daughter of Captain Donald Bodden of Boggy Sand Road in West Bay. The couple had three children. Mr. Banks passed away in 1992.
