Introduction:
Mr Thomas Baxter Rivers, known as Backie, started his seafaring career as a turtler on the schooners 'Banks' and 'Meritwell'. He sailed the seven oceans of the world. Mr. RIvers served under the command of the US Army transport service during WWII. He was married to ship owner, Abraham EBanks daughter, Urslie Ebanks. They had two sons, one of which followed his dad's footsteps as a seafarer. Mr. Thomas Rivers passed away in the late 1990's. Mid 1980s-early 1990s sailed with major Oil companies 1941-1945 in the Pacific during WWII hauling oil barges; US about to invade Japan Turtling from mid 1920s
