Introduction:
Captain Theophilus R. Bodden OBE, 1909 - 1994 "Among the outstanding men from the island of Little Cayman, Captain Theo, as he was affectionately known, was most certainly in the higher ranks." "He was fortunate to have the British, ship-wrecked mariner, Samuel Saunders to impart not only good general education but the skills of seamanship and navigation as well." "Determined to help the family, he started a sea-going career at the age of 16 gained a Mate's license at age 19 and a Master License at age 24. After sailing out of Kingston, Jamaica for a time, he went to Trinidad where he served as a ship's Pilot and Dock-master. Trinidad, at this time was humming with activity, bunkering American convoys that were carrying supplies and ammunition to Europe during World War 2. Some years later after marrying Miss Valda Merren, he relocated to Grand Cayman where he captained some of the motor-ships owned by his in-laws."
