Introduction:

DD-BT Once on the Imperial Ottawa in Marcee, France, we were anchored awaiting our turn to go in and discharge, when an oil ring of no more than a paint can was discovered down by the side of the ship and the French Warship came and anchored in front of the ship to prevent it from leaving until it was sure their ship had not been the cause of the spill. Another time it took 57 days at sea from California to the Pursian Gulf as the main boiler went out.
