Introduction:
I nominate the above for his extensive sea faring career. Capt. Rudland Clendon Foster worked on ships from 1940 - 1975. He advanced through the ranks to become a captain working on various vessels. Ships he preformed duties on include; the Frankmorie, the Crawford Ellis, the Catmus, the Rubens, the Whipple, the Pine Ridge, the Kirksons, the Romana, the Kirkdale, the Kirk Express, and various oil tankers. During his time at sea, he was torpedoed twice during WWII, saved the lives of 27 various people including his life long friend Eddingston McTaggart who he found lying facedown on a sack of bananas in the water after being torpedoed. His travels led him to experience numerous phenomenon's on the high seas including a seaquake that followed his ship for about a mile. His travels took him throughout the Caribbean and as far away as the Suez Canal. He was also held at gunpoint by German naval officers the second time he was torpedoed and by the Cuban military during the Cuban Missile Crisis when he refused to stop his ship in a blockade to ensure it made it into port on time. He came from a long seafaring heritage on the West End of Cayman Brac and was the son of Hulda Bodden Foster and Robert Clifton Foster also known as "Captain Bertie". During his life from 1920 to 2004 he was a loving husband and father and a devoted man to God.
