Introduction:
Rollin Gourzong left home at the tender age of 19 years old to go to sea like many others his age. Rollin's decision was two folded. First, he wanted a better life for his parents and secondly he wanted to be able to send his sister to college. For seven(7) years Rollin sailed the high seas. Rollin started out as a Mess Man peeling potatoes and washing dishes to becoming a Oiler . Cleaning up in the engine room and finally becoming an engineer keeping the two ships he worked on, running .
Rollin sailed on the Imperial Ottowa and the Imperial St. Lawrence.
