Mr. Hawkins was one of the persons responsible for bringing cement in bulk and into the silos to Cayman Islands then bagging them for distribution. Capt. Charles Kirkconnel was the president and Mr Hawkins was the Vice President of operation. Mr Hawkins and Oswell Rankine were the people in charge of training the Scout Boys in discipline, leadership and seamanship. Mr. Hawkins among others were trained by the USA cost guard and tested for Navigation through Scouting. This was done by the Vice Commodore Mr. Bud Gilman from the auxiliary coast guard and Mr. Hawkins also work for him part time; one of Mr Hawkins test with Mr Bud Gilman was to go to Calete Grande at Islands Pines to take fuel for a Cayman Boat that has run out of fuel. This was during the civil war with Fidel Castro and could not go on shore so the task had to be done undercover so they have to arrive before dust and leave before day light the morning as the gun boats could take them in their custody. The test was completed and Mr Hawkins arrived back to Cayman in his 15 Birthday.
