Bio
Introduction:
I nominate the above person for the above indicated category because he went to sea at the age of 17, joined the S.S. Ore Regent in June 1963 in Panama. It travelled thru the Panama Canal on it's way to Japan. He joined as messman and stayed in the galley for 6 months. He wanted to be an engineer and went to the engine room as wiper and worked himself up the ladder to Third Engineer. He stayed on that ship for 4 1/2 years before coming home. Once while travelling from Peru to Japan he was 34 days at sea before seeing land. The ship encountered a lot of Typhoons on it's way to Japan. Once in particular, the Ore from Peru being very fine like sand, shifted causing the ship to list 15 degrees and they went to port with water flushing over the portside. He sailed on a number of other ships including the S.S. Universe Commander, S.S. Phoenix, S.S. Commonwealth and the S.S. Corko El Tigre. He went around the world and retired from sea in 1971.
