I nominate the above person because Mr. Ebanks served for 21 years as a seaman in the position of Steward on many ships. In his last position as Steward on a ship owned by Swanee Steamship Company he was travelling between Central America and Tampa , and on his arrival in the port of Tampa he was taken immediately to Tampa General Hospital where he succumbed to his illness at the young age of 48 years leaving a widow with 5 young children. His death certificate indicates his passing due to complications from a heart attack. Mr. Ebanks was able over his short life to serve as a seaman and also he was able to hone his culinary skills and establish a very lucrative business on Elizabeth Street, West Bay. In fact, Mr. Ebank's Ice Cream Shop appears on the National Trust Walking Tour of West Bay.
