Bio
Introduction:
I nominate the above person for the above indicated category because:
Mr Laurie Ivan Farrington started his seafaring career in 1952, travelling to the Mosquito Keys to catch turtles. In 1954, he shipped out with National Bulk Carriers, his first ship was the Kaposia, which he worked on with Robert Ebanks. Mr Laurie Ivan Farrington held many positions during his seafaring career including Second Baker, Third Cook, Able-Bodied Seaman, Galleyman, Ordinary Seaman, Messman, Wiper and his highest rank was Second Engineer on The Freight Consolidator, sailing from Miami to Guatemala. He travelled to a myriad of countries, bringing Caymankind into every port he visited including- Karachi in Pakistan, Aqaba in Jordan (to carry ammunition- which he described as frightful experience, as after a month's discharge there, as two hours after the ship left the dock, Israel bombed the same ammunition they carried there), South Korea, many ports in Brazil including Rio, Santos and Recife, Newfoundland in Canada, Killingholme in the United Kingdom, Naples in Italy, Sete in France, Kobe in Japan, three different ports in Venezuela, Ponce and San Juan in Puerto Rico, India, Hamburg in Germany, Persian Gulf and all major sea ports in the United Stated as his last three years at sea were spent loading oil in Texas and taking it around to different ports in America.
