Introduction:
I hereby nominate ANDY MARTIN in the category of 'FRIENDS OF SEAFARERS'. Whilst Mr. Martin himself was a seafarer, spanning a period of 12 years and rising to the rank of Junior Engineer,perhaps his biggest contribution was the production and performance of the song, Letter from Sea. This song has become the 'Seafarer's Anthem' and is still very popular today, even though our men are not as involved in the Seafaring trade. The song has enjoyed much acclaim, both home and abroad, especially in the Bay Islands of Honduras.s
During Mr. Martin's 12 years at sea, he sailed on many of the Ore ships, including the Ore Jupiter and Ore Saturn and went to many exotic and far away countries, such as the Middle East and Japan.
I trust that you will consider this nomination and award Mr. Martin accordingly.
