Bio

Introduction:

I hereby nominate my grandfather, the late AARON ALEXANDER POWERY, in the category of EARLY PIONEER as a TURTLER. "GRANDPA AARON" was from the era of 'wooden ships and iron men'. He was turtling out to the cays around Bluefields, Nicaragua on boats with Captain Allie and others. He began to trade in rope and turtle shells for H.O. Merren and Co. They would make trips every few weeks and come back with the turtles to butcher at the market. He made a good living from this to support his large family (wife and seven children). He left a proud seafaring legacy for his five sons, who all subsequently shipped out with National Bulk Carriers and U.S. flag ships, each attaining high ranks in their chosen fields. I trust you will consider this nomination favourably and Award him this honour posthumously.
